Donald Trump Gives Iran 10 Days to Accept Deal or Face Consequences

President United States leader Donald Trump has said his administration has given Iran a 10-day deadline to agree to a deal over its nuclear programme, warning that failure to do so could lead to military action and serious global consequences.

Speaking at the opening of a peace initiative he led in Washington DC, Trump stressed the need for a meaningful agreement, saying ongoing negotiations must produce results or “very bad things will happen.”

In recent days, the United States has increased troop deployments to the Middle East, while reports indicate progress in talks between U.S. and Iranian representatives in Switzerland.

Lawmakers from both the Democratic Party and some members of the Republican Party have expressed opposition to any military action against Iran without congressional approval.

Meanwhile, Iran’s government has informed the United Nations Secretary-General that it would consider U.S. military bases in the region as potential targets if Iran is attacked.
