Federal University Dutse to Launch Degree Programs in AI, Data Science — VC

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Prof. Ahmad Muhammed-Gumel, has announced plans to introduce new degree programs in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Data Science & Analytics, Networking, Cloud Computing, and other in-demand fields.

Speaking during an interactive session with university staff, Prof. Muhammed-Gumel emphasized the need to modernize and revise curricula to meet the National Universities Commission (NUC) standards and align with global digital transformation in teaching and learning.

He highlighted that the new programs would include AI & Machine Learning, Data Science & Analytics, Networking and Cloud Computing, Project Management, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain, Geology, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Community Health, Science Education, and Business Education, among others.

Prof. Muhammed-Gumel outlined his Vision 2030 for FUD: “to make the university nationally and globally competitive with market-driven and cutting-edge academic programs that will produce graduates who are both employable and employers of labour.”

He called on academic staff to embrace the forthcoming changes and reforms over the next five years to support this transformation. The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that FUD possesses the manpower and political will to position itself prominently on the global academic stage.

“With competitive programs, advanced research, and strategic global partnerships, FUD can strengthen its place among top-ranked universities worldwide,” he added.
