BREAKING: NANS Threatens Protest Against South African Businesses

The Southwest Zone D leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students has condemned the renewed xenophobic attacks in South Africa following the reported killing of two Nigerians.

In a statement issued by the zone’s coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, also known as BILLIONCODES, the student body described the attacks as a disturbing continuation of violence and hostility against Nigerians living in South Africa.

He said the repeated targeting of Nigerians under any circumstance is unacceptable and called for an immediate end to the attacks.

According to the statement, NANS Southwest is mobilising students and supporters to stage peaceful protests and picketing against South African businesses operating in Nigeria, including MTN Group and MultiChoice Group.

The group argued that it is unfair for South African companies to continue thriving in Nigeria while Nigerians in South Africa face insecurity and violence.

NANS also called on the South African government to take urgent steps to protect foreign nationals, especially Nigerians, and ensure that those responsible for attacks are brought to justice.

The association stressed that symbolic reactions and delayed responses are no longer enough, insisting that the safety and dignity of Nigerians abroad must be fully protected.

While reaffirming its willingness to engage in dialogue with South African business representatives and diplomatic authorities, NANS maintained that Nigerian students would not remain silent while Nigerians continue to face attacks in South Africa.
