Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover N8m Ransom in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued a kidnapped woman and recovered N8 million ransom in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping in the region.
According to the task force spokesperson, Chinonso Oteh, the operation was carried out based on intelligence gathered after the arrest of a suspect linked to the abduction.
He explained that the suspect’s confession helped troops trace the victim to Padam Forest, where she was successfully rescued. The woman had been abducted on April 19 from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area before being moved to a hideout in neighbouring Qua’an Pan.
During the operation, troops also recovered the ₦8 million ransom earlier paid by the victim’s family, which was later returned to them.
The rescued victim was taken to a hospital in Shendam for medical examination and has since been reunited with her family.
Following the success, troops have launched further operations across Qua’an Pan and Shendam to track down other members of the kidnapping network.
The rescue is part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle criminal groups in Plateau State. In recent operations, security forces have raided an illegal arms production site in Langtang North, conducted an ambush in Barkin Ladi that neutralized two suspected attackers, and intercepted ammunition along the Kaduna–Jos highway.

Authorities say efforts remain focused on disrupting criminal networks, cutting off their supply chains, and improving intelligence gathering to prevent future incidents.
